I love me some good GAMES!
Great blog! I like deep thinkers and like to read all types of blogs from GAMES, politics, religion, ancient civilizations, to UFO's.
Hey have you seen this blog (BlogRDie?): http://blogrdie.wordpress.com ! Maybe you or one of your readers know what this blog is referring to, I became LOST!!? It claims stuff about the end of the world, time travel, religion (I think?), etc…?! Maybe a joke or something, but was interesting! Again good content!

Man I love those games! I played Privateer II and loved it! (it was more linear then the first but still enjoyable). I had a hankering to play recently and realised it did not like graphics cards or winXP! I wanted to play it so badly, I built a custom rig with a standard graphics card and a copy of windows 98. Everybody thought I was crazy but I was so happy!

When I played the first Xcom game over 12 years ago it was one of those experiences that I'll never forget. I was around 14-15 years of age and I remember the tense and thrilling atmosphere that the game rewarded me with. It was the first game where I was actually scared to deploy my team of marines at an alien landing zone. It became ever scarier when I encountered aliens. But then my confidence shot up when I started winning because I was researching better technologies to help my guys out. At my height I had many bases spread out over the world, fully stocked with tanks and 'rines.

Privateer was also brilliantly executed. The feeling that the open ended gameplay created was incredible, I think it must have been a first for the genre. After doing some particularly dicey cargo runs I remember landing on an Agricultural planet and sitting and watching the landing pad with my ship, laser marks and all, so proudly displayed on it, whilst looking over at the sparkling dusk sunset over the sea, at the same time imagining how frikkin AWESOME it would be to actually be there. I think that's what was so amazing, the feeling was very real.
Also other times when landing on other bases and planets brought their own unique feeling. Places like Oxford, Constantinople, Perry, a mining asteroid base, a refinery base etc.
To this day I still listen to the Privateer soundtrack and imagine myself in those places.

Okay enough blogging, I need to go install these games again!
